Seed and Plant Exchange Creates Community for Oahu

Positive Media Hawaii presents happy memories of Oahu’s first Community Seed and Plant Exchange.  This free public event took place at Hale Moili’i Fishpond, at Kualoa Ranch on North Shore Oahu on May 5, 2013.  It was an inspiring day of speakers, workshops, a huge seed and plant exchange, and live music.

The event was sponsored by these excellent groups, be sure to check them out:  Permablitz Hawaii, Hawaii Organic Farmer’s Association, Transition Oahu, and Yogarden.

We get another chance to do it all over again at the next Community Seed and Plant Exchange happening Sunday, May 4, 2014.  The festivities start at 11am and continue until sunset.  This FREE public event takes place at the same location at Hale Moili’i  – join us on the edge of an ancient 125-acre Hawaiian fishpond for a day of workshops, seed swapping, plant bartering, local food vendors, artisan handicrafts, live music, and keynote speakers.

Participants are invited to bring seeds that were saved at home and seedlings that you propagated yourself to share and swap with old friends and new.  Don’t have anything to share this year? Come anyways, and take home something to start so that you can save seeds and contribute to next year’s event!

Come celebrate International Permaculture Day with like-minded people and join the food revolution by just growing your own.

For more details about the 2014 event, Permablitz Hawaii has posted the event flyer here.
