Keiki Voices Student Video – Believe In Yourself
Positive Media Hawaii’s Youth Project, Keiki Voices, presents a short video by recent graduates of our 8-week curriculum. This sweet video encourages self-soothing behavior and positive thinking. I was at Hokulani Elementary and the natives were restless. We were at that moment in the curriculum when we shared our top ideas from brainstorming and I could tell by the mischief eyes that there were going to be some gory stories. So I was startled when one girl shared this idea that you can watch in the video below. Although it starts out rough, it has a surprisingly delightful twist at the end (I don’t want to spoil it for you – take the 90 seconds and watch it!)
These students are from an after school workshop I did at Hokulani Elementary, covering: camera basics, how to frame (shot types and angles) and how they influence emotion in the viewer, how to take an idea and turn it into a script and storyboards, acting fundamentals, and director responsibilities.
For this project, Positive Media Hawai’i was funded by the 21st Century Community Learning Center grant, which we received for the 2013-14 school year, you can read about the details here.
